Gunn was a student in the United Kingdom in the British American Drama Academy during fall 1988. Following her move from Laurel Canyon Los Angeles she shared a house with Pamela Adlon. Gunn is well known for her character Skyler White in the AMC drama Breaking. she was nominated for her role in the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance, winning in 2013 and 2014. The New York Times published an article in August of 2013 in which they discussed the negativity of the public's perception of her role.
