Rodarius MarcellGreen[2] (born August 27 1997) is an American singer and rapper. [3][4][5The Wave is known for his powerful voice, incorporation of hiphop and R&B[2and has been recognized as the pioneer of soul-trap. The single from his 2019 album "Heart on Ice" was a big hit via YouTube as well as TikTok. It reached the top 25 spot on Billboard Hot 100. [7] Wave's debut album, Ghetto Gospel (2019) peaked at the top of the charts at number 10 on the US Billboard 200. The second album, Pray 4 Love (2020) peaked at the top of the Billboard 200 at number 2,[99. It included the track "Rags2Riches" which peaked at 12th on the Hot 100. The third album, SoulFly (2021), was his first album that peaked at the number 1 spot. It was his first chart-topping album. Wave's professional journey began in 2016 when he released the first installment of his mixtape Hunger Games Vol.1. Wave released several mixtapes before signing with Alamo Records. The mixtape PTSD was released on June 14, 2019. It featured the track "Heart on Ice". The track went viral through YouTube and TikTok, peaking at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wave's debut album Ghetto Gospel (November 1, 2019) was released. It reached 10th place on the US Billboard 200. Rod Wave's sophomore album Pray 4 Love was released April 3 in 2020. It debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200, with a deluxe edition following on August 7. [9] Many songs from the album charted in the Billboard Hot 100. "S" (featuring ATR son Son) made it to number 12 on the Hot 100. It became the song with the highest chart position. 14 On August 11 the 11th of August, 2020, Wave was included on XXL's 2020 Freshman Class. Wave revealed to XXL's 2020 freshman Class in July of 2020 that he was currently working on his third album. It was originally due for August 27, 2020. Two years later, he revealed the track list for the album SoulFly on March 6, 2021. One of his top-charting tracks, "Street Runner", was also included on the album. It peaked at number 11 on the Hot 100. In the year 2021's final days in 2021, the release of the song "Nirvana" was a source of controversy , as some viewed the song as a suicide message in which Wave categorically denied. [20]
